This week the Walker Team will be saying "farewell" to General Martin who will be leaving Fort Leonard Wood for a new assignment in Kuwait. "Farewell" is a word we seem to use frequently in the military community. We don't say "goodbye" because most likely, our paths will cross again. Time and time again we've come across friends that we've made at previous duty stations. That's one of the amazing benefits of being a military family- no matter how many moves you make, no matter how many friends you say "farewell" to, you're still a part of a bigger family. A forever family. As military families, we understand that "Home is where the Army sends you." And home is what you make it. It's easy to focus on the temporary state of a move, knowing you'll only be living in a certain area for 2 or 3 years. But many opportunities are missed with this kind of mindset. We've found that embracing your time at each duty station, putting roots down, making friends and getting involved in the community are the keys to a positive experience, wherever the Army sends you.
If you're new to the Fort Leonard Wood area or will be joining our community soon, we'd love for you to touch base with us. Let us help you make the most of your time here in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks and let us help you make this "home".
